Shared Focus!

Today was a l-o-n-g one for me, and my energy levels were oh-s0-low.  The really bright spot in my day was knowing that Shared Focus had new new photos up.  This week the theme was light.  Kate has a GORGEOUS photo of light – looks very much like a Monet.  I chose a photo of my oldest grandson.

So, why not just click over and see what we’ve been up to!

“Shared Focus” is back!

After a l-o-n-g absence, Shared Focus is back!  I can’t tell you how much I’ve missed this collaborative effort with Kate, but life tends to get in the way sometimes.  Both Kate and I have had some major life changing events over the past year and there just didn’t seem to be enough time.

Our theme for today was “faces”.  Why not pay us a visit and see what we have come up with?

Photography Class – Visual Poetry

I recently started an on-line photography class, Visual Poetry by Susan Tuttle.  You can visit her virtual home at ilka’s attic.  Having never taken a photography class, let alone an on-line one, I wasn’t sure what to expect.  But I had made a promise to myself to take some classes so that I can improve my craft.  So, this one sounded interesting — giving your photos a vintage look.  So, throwing caution to the wind I enrolled.  The class started on Sunday and you know what?  I am SO glad I signed up.

Her web site is a delight and easy to navigate.  The course is 6 weeks long, with 3 lessons each week.  You can move at your own pace, and that is just great.  There’s a coffee bar for us to visit, and a flickr group (which I’m STILL trying to figure out).  Her lessons are easy to follow – and more importantly, easy to understand and apply to your own work.  I am having such fun and so far have only finished the first lesson.  And I’d like to share with you the results.  This is a photo I took last spring in a small town near where I used to live.

Not bad for a first lesson, wouldn’t you agree?

Up and running

Well, what a week! I had today (Friday) off and it’s been wonderful, but a bit frustrating. I woke up in the wee hours of this morning – not an uncommon occurrence. But when I went over to the computer I discovered that the Internet was down! ARGH. It was down ALL day, until just a bit ago. But now I’m up and running and life is good again. (Should all problems be this small…) Anyway.

For those of you who visit me occasionally you probably know that Kate, from Inspired, and I have a collaborative photography site, Shared Focus,  Every couple of weeks we both have a new photo with our interpretation of a theme.  In preparation of this week’s input I’ve been practicing my still life photography — and shooting totally in manual mode.  I am really delighted with my first efforts.  Make sure to go to Shared Focus on Sunday and check us out.  And you can visit Shadowland Photography now and check out one of my other images.

Have a GREAT weekend!
