Happy Birthday to

ME!  Yes, today is my birthday.  I LOVE birthdays – and mine is no exception.  And this year I’ve gotten to enjoy a prolonged period of celebration.

The first celebration was a couple of weeks early before my youngest went back to university.  She got up early and made me crepes for breakfast!  And for dinner she fixed a beautiful salad and one of my favorite pasta dishes.  For desert she’d made home-made red velvet cupcakes and home-made vanilla ice cream.  What a delicious treat that day was – and I felt so spoiled!

This past weekend I met up with my middle daughter and her family and we celebrated our birthdays (hers is one week from today).  We had a GREAT time.  Shopping, chatting, dining out.  What fun!  And I received an incredible birthday gift – she made me a “photographer’s vest”.  It is beautiful, with lots of pockets to store lens caps, memory cards, spare batteries and so on.  And the detail is just GORGEOUS!!  I can’t wait to wear it out on a “shoot”.

And then today, calls and text messages from all my girls and my parents.  It was wonderful.

And, perhaps the biggest surprise.  My team at the office conspired and totally shocked me by a little surprise party!  One of them scheduled a meeting with a customer.  I went to the meeting and was totally gob-smacked when they were all gathered around the table with ice cream and cakes.  And they even sang “happy birthday” – I cannot recall when I was so surprised.  I had not even a clue!

And so, as I’m getting ready for bed, I am reflecting on my day.  Birthdays just keep getting better and better!  Thank you everyone!!
