The fog

Well, it’s been busy at work and then when I’m home its busy getting ready for November sales at the mall. One of my daughters and I will be sharing a kiosk for the weekend of Nov 11 and then the weekend following Thanksgiving (including “Black Friday”). I am super excited. And we got a prime location. The mall is set up so that one of the entrances is through Macy’s. When you exit Macy’s there is a big area which will be devoted to a train set up for kids to ride and Santa will be there. Our kiosk is just past all the fun. To the right of the kiosk is a maternity shop and a candy shop. Sears is also that way. Directly across from Macy’s at the other end of the hall way are the bathrooms and food court. To the left all the other shops. So I am sure we’ll do really well.

Took a tumble today. Apparently I tripped over my own two feet! I was in the process of going to the car (after just having thrown out the trash) to go to the farmer’s market. Next thing I knew I was on the ground. Knees and palms to most of the damage, but the road is rough and my arms hurt too. Took a bit to get the little rocks and debris out of the scrapes. Decided it was an indication that I didn’t really need to go out today!

Yesterday we had some fantastic fog. Living near the ocean we often get fog, but this came in yesterday evening and you could see it! I grabbed my camcorder and have a bit of it to share with you. I put it on fast forward so hope it isn’t too boring!

Love the fog!

Hope you all have a wonderful week. If you are curious as to soap making you can check out my channel on youtube, don’t laugh too hard!!

I feel temporary

Well last week I was working down by the Ocean again. It was gorgeous. Arrived on Sunday and looked up for rent places on the ‘net. Drove around and identified several worth calling about. Was driving back to my motel and noticed some strange dust on the road. But then I remembered that I wasn’t in the desert so it probably wasn’t dust. Decided it must be smoke – but couldn’t find any sign of a fire. Then (head smack) I remembered where I was and those soft little clouds on the road were FOG! Yep, fog. Haven’t seen that in years. Drove out to the Ocean and sure enough – it was just rolling in! Take a look at the photo here. I was the only one around and I felt isolated, yet safe and happy.

The week was incredibly busy. Time after time I found a spare minute to call the number for one of the places I’d looked at from the outside. Time and again I was told that either the place was off the rental market because it was being sold or that they didn’t take pets. I was feeling down and worried when I did find some place. It’s steps from the water and while I can’t see it from the ground floor apartment (dunes are in the way) I could hear the ocean. I am excited. After some negotiating and back and forth I finally signed the lease and sent it in on Friday. Hopefully the landlord/landlady will sign it this week. Based on that, I’ve made tentative arrangements for the rental truck and my daughter and son-in-law are making plans to come help me. Looks like moving day will be 30 June and 1 July.

And today I find myself wandering around my house. Not wanting to start any new projects, yet too soon to do much packing. (I did pack up the spice cabinet yesterday and then naturally I decided to cook today. Bland, but oh well.) I don’t have that much stuff here, but oh so much more than when I came 2 years ago. Funny about that.

And this week promises to be busy here at work. In the evenings I’ll be going through and donating stuff. No sense to take too much with me. The end of the week my moving boxes and packing paper are due to arrive so I’ll be able to get busy for sure.

Although I’ve moved all my life, the last few weeks at the current home are always a bit depressing. Too much time – yet not enough…

Breathe in, breathe out

I was at my new office last week.  Getting to know folks, attending meetings, trying to get a grip as to what was what.  I also spent some time looking for an apartment.  I found several just steps away from the beach, but the ones that I can afford are small and they have been abused.  So I am re-thinking where I’ll live.  I have a feeling it’ll be a bit further in-land, with a 5-7 minute car ride to the ocean.  Still MUCH closer than I am now, so that isn’t a bad thing.

I did enjoy going out to eat while there – Indian, Thai (and then repeat).  It was delicious!!  I fell in love with sticky rica and mango.  And at the Thai found a new favorite – tofu with peanut sauce and spinach.  Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

And today I cleared the kitchen cabinets, cut roses from the garden and put them in a vase on a counter top and played Deva Premal while I crafted a batch of sandalwood soap.  I mixed part of the batter with cinnamon and did a swirl (I hope).  The batter was dark and the cinnamon portion a bit darker.  I am anxious to see how it turns out.
