A Day at the Museum

Monday, September 6th, 2010

My daughter, Steph, and her family came to visit for their weekend (Thurs and Fri).  I had to work late on Thurs, but we still managed to get to the local sushi restaurant for a treat.  Later Steph and I attended the local quilter’s guild who featured a guest speaker from Boston.  It was an interesting evening.

Friday we deiced to go to our local Maturango Museum.  The kids enjoyed the inside displays — local wild life and geological stuff.  I think their favorite was putting their hand into special openings to see if they could guess what they felt.  Then you could open the drawer and see if you were right.  They LOVED that!  But outside was the biggest hit.  They have a desert garden, a human sun dial and a labrynth!  We had the best time (although it was 107!) out there:

Leaving on a jet plane…

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

Well, today is my last day in San Antonio.  Tomorrow I fly back to California, and it’s with both happiness and sorrow I leave.  I will be leaving my youngest here to begin her 3rd year at university and while I am delighted that she is such a beautiful, talented and gifted young lady; I am saddened because this is the end of a phase in our life as mother/daughter and the beginning of another.  This year she’ll be studying hard and next summer, because of the switch from one university to another last year, she’ll be staying in San Antonio to play catch up on college credits.

This year she’s got a studio apartment.  It is still part of the university dorm system, but it will be her little heaven.  She got the keys on Monday and we spent that day and yesterday buying necessities and getting her home together.  What do you think?

The above was taken today near Texas Canyon in Arizona.  Chelsea did well in her surgery – no complications – and was released late yesterday afternoon.  Chelsea’s surgeon knew that we needed to get her back to university at San Antonio, and so Chelsea was released for travel yesterday.  We are pacing the trip as slowly as we can with still arriving on Monday.  Yesterday we went 4 hours to one of my daughter’s and spend the night.  Tonight we’re in Deming NM.  Tomorrow our goal is Ft Stockton TX and then on into San Antonio on Monday.  So far so good!

Good wishes please

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Well, after years of pain and tummy upset the cause of Chelsea’s issues have been discovered.  An overactive gallbladder.  She’s scheduled for surgery today to remove it.  Send us some good thoughts if you have time!
